Encased Farthings
Commonly known as Lucky Farthings, Ringed Farthings, & Encased Farthings, or Encapsulated Farthings these tokens were produced as an advertising medium for businesses. They were also produced as souvenirs for coronations etc. These items were more popular in the USA where a multitude of examples has been produced by several manufacturers. In the UK there is very little known information about these pieces hence my attempt to catalogue and list any examples that come to light. The main producer of the UK versions was J.R.Gaunt.
